Spring
Spring is here! My kids went outside and played for a good hour this afternoon. What a blessing the sun can bring. It is still a bit chilly and there is still some snow on the ground, but the sunshine brings forth a warmth not just on our skin but our hearts as well. Let me tell you, my heart is looking forward to the warmer weather. It has been a LONG winter. We are still adjusting to our move to Wyoming even though it has been close to two years since we moved here. I worked my way through the Psalms not long ago and I love that the authors always bring us back to who God is. The maker of the heavens and the earth. The one who loves us and calls out to us. The one who is strong and mighty, trustworthy, gracious, and king over all. He can destroy us with a word, but instead it says over and over again how he listens to our cries, our hearts. Our circumstances change constantly, God remains constant and in control not surprised by anything we are walking through today.
This season has been harder than most for me. When I can’t see past this valley may I rest in the fact that God sees the whole picture. He sees the mountain that is up ahead. I can trust Him when he says “I will work things together for GOOD” Romans 8:28. I’m thankful I can trust that but right now things still feel hard. Matthew 11:28 reminds us “come to me all who are weary and carry heavy burdens, and I will give you rest”.
So, as I look forward the start of a new season, may I remember these truths: this too is just a season, God sees it all and we are free to find rest in Him. He loves me and He is good.
